Elizabeth C. (McCoy) Smith, known to friends and family as Cora, passed away     peacefully on May 8th, 2019 at the Hospice House of the E.U.P.

Cora was born on Sugar Island on December 27, 1934 to Fred and Bertha McCoy. She married Billy Lee Smith on June 25,1955 in Lafayette, Indiana and together they raised eight children Richard Smith, Russell (Jill) Smith, Sharon Smith, Lorraine (Brian) Dibulka, Douglas Smith, Susan (Bill) Tobias, Benjamin (Leann) Smith, and David Smith.

Cora loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed family picnics and holiday gatherings. The more the merrier was her motto. She also loved a good game of cribbage with anyone who would play, especially her favorite nephew Donny Smith.  One of her favorite things to do was to get into “mischief” with her sister-in-law and partner in crime, June Smith. Cora was a friendly person and would chat with anyone. She had an infectious laugh and enjoyed making jokes. Cora was involved in cribbage and pool leagues for years. She also loved bingo and playing the slots

Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Lee Smith, her parents, Fred and Bertha McCoy, her siblings, Catherine McCoy, Phillip McCoy, Lillian Perrault, Isabel McCoy, David McCoy, Lorraine Menard, Melva (Coo) Menard and Freda McCoy. She is survived by her sister, Pearl Menard, all eight of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  Also survived by a sister-in-law Margaret McCoy.

Per her wishes Cora will be cremated and taken to Indiana to be laid to rest next to her husband. There will be no service. Condolences can be sent to Clark Bailey Newhouse Funeral Home or online at www.clarkbaileynewhouse.com
