Richard L. (Dick) McKerchie of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan passed away Monday October 15, 2018 at War Memorial Hospital with family around him.  Dick was born April 5, 1949 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan the son of David and Ruth McKerchie.  He was member of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians; the American Legion and a union member.  Dick enjoyed going to the Legion for a beer and pull tabs; he enjoyed old time music, his Detroit Tigers and Red Wing Hockey,  he had a good sense of humor and hard worker, also known a Dickey Do and if you needed a $20 bill you got it and if he  borrowed a $20 dollar bill he never forgot to pay it back.
Dick is survived by 2 sons Eric (Nichole) McKerchie of MS and Angus (Barbie) McKerchie of Sault Ste. Marie, MI;  a daughter Rae Ann of Newark, Ohio;  sisters Myrl (Ed) Payment of Hessel, MI, Bonita Hoops of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Lynnette (Bill) Marsh of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Brenda (Tom) Cook of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Susie (Dan) Henry of Howard City, MI;  a brother John ‘Jack’ (Gayle) McKerchie of Newaygo, MI;  grandchildren Gavin, Paityn, Kassidy, Natalie, Chance and Cooper;  many nieces and nephews; Hey now/How now and a lot of cousins. Also survived by a very good friend Cheri G.  Predeceased by his parents David and Ruth McCoy McKerchie; Tam McKerchie, Jeanene (Tom) Budnick, David (Jerry) McKerchie, Donald ‘Duck’ McKerchie and Joan.
Visitation will be held 10:00am until 2:00pm Saturday October 20, 2018 at Niigaanaagiizhik Ceremonial Building with a luncheon to follow.  Funeral Services will be held11:00am Saturday October 20, 2018 at Niigaanaagiizhik Ceremonial Building with Brother John Hascall officiating.  The family of Dick would like to send a special thank you to the War Memorial Hospital Staff for his care.  Clark Bailey Newhouse Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be left at www.clarkbaileynewhouse.com.
