Leo D. Robbins, age 82 of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan passed away Monday March 3, 2014 at War Memorial Hospital.
Leo was born April 19, 1931 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to Leo and Lavina Robbins.
Leo was especially proud of his military service, of having served during the Korean conflict as a Cpl. for the United States Army.  He was employed by Michigan Bell (AT&T) from 1957-1993 as a lineman then later a cable splicer.  He especially loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and could often be found washing cars and his motorcycle during his free time.  His love of Harley Davidson took him on many memorable trips including the Baja Peninsula Mexico, Harley Davidson 100th Anniversary in Milwaukee Wisconsin, Sturgis bike rally and many other destinations both in Michigan and Arizona.  Leo was often wearing a Harley Davidson t-shirt from one of his many rides.  His family has decided to embrace his love of motorcycles and wear motorcycle apparel to the memorial service, please feel free to come casually dressed or join the family in celebrating Leo’s love of motorcycling by wearing your favorite motorcycle apparel.
Leo always loved to tell a funny joke and make people laugh.  His laughter and jokes will be missed by his entire family.
Leo is survived by his wife the former Mitzy (Margaret) Latondress whom he married August 22, 1959 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.  A son Jeff (Jennifer) Robbins; daughters Cindy (Steve) Severance; Deb (John Pullen) Bozenski; Lisa (Gordon Goeschel) Robbins; Michelle (Gary Hough) Robbins.  Grandchildren Alyson M. Norris, Gordon M. Goeschel, Amanda K. Goeschel, Kiarra A. Robbins, Logan J. Robbins. Great Grandson Gordon A. Goeschel.  Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.   Predeceased by his parents Leo and Lavina Robbins; Sisters Marjorie (George) Hanna, Shirley (Alfred) Lewis, Romain (Jack) Enbody.
Visitation will be held 9:00am until 11:00am Saturday March 8, 2014 in the Church Hall at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00am Saturday March 8, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Jose Maramattam as Celebrant and Deacon Bill Piche assisting.  In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Mary’s School or Road to Recovery Van would be appreciated.  Clark Bailey Newhouse Funeral Home and Cremation Center is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be left at www.clarkbaileynewhouse.com.

As being close friends for almost 60 years and neighbors for 16 of those years, our lives will be grieving the loss of Leo who has been one of my most influential role models for all these years. Leo is home with our lord now and patiently waiting for our time to come home as well. We will carry his memory in our hearts for the rest of our time here on God's green earth. Mitzy, I know the loss and pain that you are feeling right now and pray for God’s love to lead you through this most difficult time in your life. If it were not for being in the middle of final exams, I would be there to help comfort you in this time of great loss. Leo, Rest in Peace with our Lord and tell Guy that I miss him as well. We will see you later on this Summer!

Being a distant relative with considerable distance between our locations, I only visited with Leo a few times but he always made time to talk even when I was just a child. I'm over 40 years old now and from then until we spoke this last Summer, we still shared that same passion for motorcycles. He took me for a ride once and I can tell you, there is nothing like riding a Harley at sunset through Michigan's corridor of trees.

Leo will be sadly missed. He was a great guy with funny stories or jokes. His brother-in-law- Guy must have learned some of this stuff from Leo. Both are missed much and are having a jolly good time in heaven. My deepest sympathy to Margaret and family. I will never forget the wonder Labor Day weekends in Grayling at my Mom and Da's when Margaret made her special spaghetti with meatballs and we all sat round the table and talked and laughed. Rest in peace my dear friend. Tell Guy we miss him.

Mitzy, found this very difficult to comprehend. I don't think I know of anyone else, man or woman, that always had such a smile. I cannot tell you how
very sorry we feel and what you must be going through.
Please know that we are thinking of you at this terrible time, but with God's
help and that of your children, you will do just fine.
Stan hopes to be able to see you in August.

Sincerely, Stan & Donna
