OBITUARY

Wendell Eugene Routhier died at his home on Riverside Drive at 7:15 AM EST on Wednesday August 5th, 2009 after a recent bout with cancer. He was born in Brimley, MI on May 12th, 1931. The son of Iva Drum and Alfred Routhier who pre-deceased him. He had four brothers, three who pre-deceased him Merlin, Jasper and Gerald.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alda Chantre Routhier; his brother, Ronald Routhier (Norma) of Brooksville, FL; his brother in law, Henry Chantre of Clearwater, FL; his three children, daughter Wendyanne Meldrum (James) of Blairgowrie, Scotland, son Gary Gene Routhier (Sandra) of Algonquin, IL, son Paul Anton Routhier of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; and his six grandchildren: Jared, Chelsea, Tyler, Travis, Te''a and Ashton.

Wendell served in the U. S. Navy for four years and is a Korean War Veteran. He retired from the U. S. Army Corp of Engineers (Soo Locks Branch) in 1990, after serving 34 years and ten months, for a total of 37 years and 10 months of government service. He was a member of St. Joseph''s Church, The Elk''s Club, Country Club Senior Golf League, Elk''s Senior Golf League, and the Sault Ste. Marie Snow Mobile Association. Visitation will be held on Friday August 14, 2009 7:00pm until 9:00pm at Clark Bailey Newhouse Funeral Home. Elks Lodge services will be held Friday at 8:45pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday August 15, 2009 10:30am at St. Joseph''s Catholic Church with Father Piotr F. Zaczynski as Celebrant. Final Resting place will be at Riverside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family would like contributions in Wendell''s memory be made to:
