Rosemarie (Bacon) Mara, age 84, of Sault, MI; passed away with family at her side on Saturday, October 16, 2010. Rosemarie was born June 6, 1926 in Ewen-Trout Creek, MI, daughter of Clarence and Bertha Bacon. Her family moved to Detroit area in 1940 and she graduated from Western High School in 1944. She worked at Hudson''s Department Store prior to marrying James Mara on August 21, 1948 at Holy Redeemer Church in Detroit. Rosemarie, Jim and family moved From Detroit to Sault in 1969 as Jim''s request for transfer within the Customs & Immigration Service was realized. Over the years their house on Young Street witnessed many memorable family gatherings, filling the house from top to bottom. Dinners often spilled beyond the dining room into the family room, normally where the sports fans or younger crowd laid claim. Christmas often made it impossible to walk through the living-room, as gifts were piled high around the tree. "Rosie" relished the chaos of family, especially the laughter, and often went around questioning "what''d I miss?" from room to room. Her home away from home was the Thrift Shop, and she so enjoyed the company of fellow volunteers, as well as brightening the day of the many regular customers. Rosemarie and Jim were blessed with over 62 years together prior to Jim''s passing in June of this year. Rosemarie is survived by her children: Kathleen (John) Sandie, Maureen (Jake) Sillers, Patrick (Marianne) Mara, Brian (Claudia) Mara, Joseph (Cindy) Mara, Colleen (Mark) Davis, Pauleen Mara, Doreen (Tim) Perry, as well as a brother, Robert (Maxine) Bacon, of Lewiston, MI. She was preceded in death by sons Michael and Timothy. Rosemarie so enjoyed her 18 grandchildren: Scott, Emily, Steven, Jennifer, Brian James, Erin, Nancyann, Brian, Ashley, Emily Rose ,Elizabeth, Nichole, Kevin, , Tyler, Kelsey, Samuel, Michael and Thomas; and 15 great a" grandchildren: Mara, Liam, Elsa, Joseph, Maddison, Ella, Maura, Maighdlin, Finnegan, Bailey, Zoe, Issac, Joey, Karen and Isiah. The family would like to offer special thanks to the Hospice "gentlemen" - Frank, Sylvester, and Garry - for their unselfish caring and giving nature in helping both Jim and Rosemarie deal with their dialysis treatment needs. Visitation will be Friday, October 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Clark Bailey Newhouse Funeral Home with the Mass of Christian Burial being given at St. Joseph''s Parish on Saturday, October 23rd at 11:00 AM with Father Piotr Zaczynski as Celebrant. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, MI to be arranged at a later date. Memorials to the Hospice of the E.U.P. or the Michigan Special Olympics would be a welcomed gesture honoring Rosemarie.
